Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It is a way for bloggers and readers to share which books they are eagerly waiting to be released. My book this week is In a Handful of Dust (Not a Drop To Drink #2) by Mindy McGinnis.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS
Lucy’s life by the pond has been full. She has water and friends, laughter and the love of her adoptive mother, Lynn, who has made sure that Lucy’s childhood was very different from her own. Yet, it seems Lucy’s future is settled already- a house, man, children and a water source- and anything beyond their life by the pond is beyond reach.
First off, When I read Not a Drop To Drink last year, I was sure that it was a stand-alone. So when I learned months ago through Epic Reads, that there was to be a “companion” novel to Not a Drop To Drink, I was shocked. Nowhere, at the end of that novel, did I get the sense that there would/could be another book. Reading it was not the highlight of my reading schedule. I was wondering what all the hype was about, so me pushing the book up on my TBR schedule was just a bad move on my part. I rated the book 3 STARS. You can read my review HERE on Goodreads. It was an okay read for me, not a book that I could pick up and read over and over. It didn’t quite feel like a Dystopian book, more like a guide for how to survive without running water.
So why am I ready to read the next book you ask? Because, me being the masochist that I am, just has to know what the heck is Mindy gonna write about in that book!!!! I just have to know! I thought for sure that there would only be the one, but noooooo. They had to slam In a Handful of Dust in my face. HARD! So, I must say, i’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes. What books are you waiting on this week?
Add, In a Handful of Dust to your GOODREADS shelf.
I was shocked when I learned about this companion novel! AND I felt the exact same way about Not a Drop to Drink. I thought is was a cool premise and I certainly enjoyed reading it, but I did not LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. But now I am kind of rethinking all of that after learning about this new book. I MUST read it! Also, I love the covers and love supporting a fellow Ohioan! Thanks for sharing! ~Megan
