Review: I’m so glad that I entered the giveaway for this on Goodreads! First off, the cover is gorgeous. Not only that, but the synopsis was the final deciding factor. I just ordered book 2, Chantress Alchemy, from Amazon. I’m ready to dive in!
The heroine, Lucy, unintentionally transports herself to London, by way of singing. She finds out that she is a chantress and can sing things into being. She soon is told all about her family history and what is going on within England. She must sing a song to break the magic that the King’s protector, Scargrave, has. Lucy has to trust and believe in herself to find her voice that she has hidden for a long time. With all of this being put on her shoulders, she feels as any young lady in her situation should feel, unsure.
I really enjoyed this book. The historical aspects are what made me want to read this book, truly. All Hallows Eve 1667, hello?? Lucy is very mature, yet naive. I think those are very good characteristics for a young heroine to have in YA books. She experiences the normal teen problems- crushes and self doubt. I loved her as a character and she made me want to keep reading and to see her save the day. A very good read that I definitely recommend.
