My Thoughts: I devoured this book over the course of a few hours. I’d been planning on reading it but the cover just put me off. I’m sorry, but it makes my flesh crawl to look at. *DO NOT LAUGH* I have a problem with looking at certain shapes and objects for too long. But, this book blew me away. And I am ready to read the next book soon.

From the very first page I was hooked. Ana is a very likable person. I felt bad for how she had been living with Li. As she set off on her journey with that compass, given to her by Li, I knew that she was in danger. And if Sam had not pulled her from the lake when he did, she’d be dead; which is what Li wanted. I love how Sam helped her heal and then accompanied her to Heart, the city where she was born but, certainly, not welcomed.

Ana is a newsoul. She is not reincarnated like all of the other citizens of Heart. Sam has lived many lives, both male and female. It’s not so much his infatuation with her newness, but her amazing-smart-hopeful self, that draws her to him. And she loves music. His music. I love how she was unaware of just who he was while she just gushed about her love of music by a certain composer. Their chemistry was jumping out of the pages. Yet, Sam held back and all Ana wanted was him. Her Sam. Glad he finally saw the light.

I was glad that the mystery of why Ciana wasn’t reincarnated the night that Ana was born, was revealed. I’m pretty sure there’s more at stake, now that Ana has her father’s research. So, it’ll be nice to get back into this story with Ana and her friends. There are dragons! Dragons I tell you! So that was a great surprise for me. I kind of didn’t want it to end the way it did. I’d have liked for something to make me scream. You know, those major cliffies that make you pull your hair out. Usually, that’s not the case but for some reason it would have made more sense. This is a great fantasy to read and I highly recommend it! I’m excited to read the next book.
