Rainbow Rowell continues to break boundaries with Carry On, an epic fantasy following the triumphs and heartaches of Simon and Baz from her beloved bestseller Fangirl.
Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.
Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.
Fangirl is one of my favorite books read in 2013, and Rainbow Rowell is in my top 10 favorite authors. I was so excited when I learned that there would be a companion novel releasing. If reading Fangirl didn’t have you wanting to read some Simon Snow fan-fiction, you have a serious problem. Anyway, I can’t wait to get lost in Watford School of Magicks. What book are you waiting on this week?
When I was reading Fangirl (also one of my favorites) I didn’t even care about the Simon Snow bits, I confess I even skipped a few, not because I didn’t like them, but because I wanted to read Cath’s story without interruptions. But now that there’s going to be a full Simon Snow book I’m super excited! I mean, it’s Rainbow Rowell, and she can do no wrong. 😀

Yes, I can’t wait to read it. I’m also curious to see how RR creates this world with magic and monsters. Though, there are snippets of this story in her book Fangirl, I’m dying to see if she can pull out a full fledged story. I’m so used to her contemporary work.

Sigh, I reaaaaaally reaaaaaally need to get back on the RR bandwagon, lol. I’ve only read Attachments and I loved it so much. I don’t even know why I haven’t bothered to pick up the rest of her books. Great pick this week! 😀

Tee hee. Just reading the synopsis I can already tell this book is going to be a fun time girl. 😉 I’ve actually never read a book about this author though but I love the wit in the blurb. (And you already know I’m waiting on Oblivion but have to wait until December. ) ugh.
