Stacking The Shelves #47

stacking the shelves

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, that spotlights the books we are adding to our shelves; whether they be virtual or physical.

My plans to make it to the library this week were thwarted. My sister is back in the hospital and I’ve been busy driving back and forth up to visit her, plus work and taking care of her little ones while her husband works at night. It’s been stressful and I’m afraid it’ll always be like this. She has Transverse Myelitis, a rare inflammatory disease that causes injury to the spinal cord. They found more lesions and therefore she’s in a state of paralysis at the moment. So, I’m just gonna continue my prayers for her to recover and be as functional as she possibly can. Not many books this week and I think that I’m gonna cut back on my requests for the next few months; until I can get the ones I have read since I don’t have the time.

Crimson Footprints by Shewanda Pugh I love her writing style, even though I wasn’t too fond of one of her books. The writing was flawless but the story as a whole wasn’t my cup of tea. Maybe this one will be different.

Sugar Kisses by Addison Moore I have all of her books on my Kindle, but have only read a handful. Those that I’ve read are great and I just had to grab this one since it was free.

Vessel  by Lisa T. Creswell I’m not actually reviewing this one for the tour, just a promo, but the author was nice enough to send me a copy anyway.

What books did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. Oh wow, I am so, so sorry about your sister, that has to be incredibly difficult. I am also very sorry for the loss of your mom. I really hope that things start to turn around for you soon, it really isn’t fair that so much is heaped on one person.

As for your books, Those Girls sounds really interesting, and I keep almost requesting it but then stopping myself 😉 I do hope you enjoy your new books, and that things this week will be a bit calmer for you. You and your family will be in my thoughts ❤

  2. I’m really sorry about your sister (and hearing about your mum too). Sending lots of hugs your way. I know what it’s like having all of those stresses to deal with so take care of yourself and if you ever need someone to vent to, I’m always around. 🙂

  3. I am so sorry to hear about your sister! It’s so good that you are helping out and everything. I hope she gets well soon :c
Those Girls looks like it might be a good book. It’s one I passed up the opportunity for though.

  4. I have not heard of any of these books but I will check them out on Goodreads. Sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she will be well soon. She is very lucky to have a sister like you to drive so much just for her. Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy your new reads.

  5. Be sure to take care of yourself while taking care of the kids, and make sure your BIL does also. I have had cancer for 12 years and my sister does so much for me, but she needs to relax and let others help me, too.

    • I’m so used to it now Elizabeth. After taking care of my mother before she died of cancer, it seems like something is always happening. It’s been like this since 2009, when my mom was diagnosed. Sadly, she only made it to 2012. I’m trying to not put too much stress on myself. Thanks for the encouragement!

  6. I have Those Girls on my TBR! I may have to go to the publisher directly and request a copy – since I am in the EU -.- Happy reading! 🙂
