In this sparkling debut, magic and mayhem clash with the British elite…

The Royal Society of Unnatural Philosophers, one of the most respected organizations throughout all of England, has long been tasked with maintaining magic within His Majesty’s lands. But lately, the once proper institute has fallen into disgrace, naming an altogether unsuitable gentleman—a freed slave who doesn’t even have a familiar—as their Sorcerer Royal, and allowing England’s once profuse stores of magic to slowly bleed dry. At least they haven’t stooped so low as to allow women to practice what is obviously a man’s profession…

At his wit’s end, Zacharias Wythe, Sorcerer Royal of the Unnatural Philosophers and eminently proficient magician, ventures to the border of Fairyland to discover why England’s magical stocks are drying up. But when his adventure brings him in contact with a most unusual comrade, a woman with immense power and an unfathomable gift, he sets on a path which will alter the nature of sorcery in all of Britain—and the world at large…

I ran across this one on Goodreads and, after reading the synopsis, I was sold. Magic and mayhem? Yes, please! What book are you waiting on this week?

  2. Sooooo, why does this book strangely remind of me of Harry Potter?? Maybe because it says Philosopher’s Stone ? Hehe and I’m waiting on Ruby Hotel. It’s a mix of mystery, suspense, maybe a little romance. Sooooo, I’m definirme anxious to start!! At least you don’t have to wait for long. 🙂

    • I don’t think that there will ever be a series of books that can outshine HP. Seriously! Is that what I’m searching for? I mean, there are some great books out there that make you think of HP in some way, but they haven’t come close to that awesomeness. This is adult, and I’m hoping that it will be as awesome as the synopsis makes it seem. I always think of HP when I see any kind of book based on magic and mayhem.

      • It has to be hard to write a book on magic especially since HP is so big. But OMG, I’m totally having aarathok and going to watch all the movies. Yup. Yup. Hehe I hope you like your book when it comes out girl and I can’t wait to see what you thought of it. 😉

I love comments, and try to reply as often as I can. Know that I read each and every one.
