After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she’s back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?
REVIEW
I’m still trying to find the right words for this review. If all you get is gibberish, then well….I’m sorry. It’s just that I really love this book. I read it in one sitting Saturday night after my beloved team won the SEC Championship. I was still on a victory high when I decided to start reading it, and after the first few pages I was laughing my butt off. I’m so glad that it kept my spirits up, and didn’t dampen my good mood.
I’m so ready for the next book. I can’t explain how much I needed this book in my life. It’s funny and sexy, and just a feel good type of read that will have you turning the pages. I couldn’t get enough of Roxie and Leo. All that sexual tension caused by the innuendos they threw at each other, all the mishaps that Roxie’s clumsy behind caused, all the bee bashing….it all just made the story so much better. I suddenly want to get me a farmer. Too bad the two farmers in my neck of the woods are oldies.
I was hooked from the very first page. Roxie is funny. No, scratch that, hilarious! The food had me salivating. The humor had me laughing out loud. The romance had me swooning left right and center. So much for going back to California to fix meals for the calorie counters.
Leo, with his sexiness and green eyes, had me at nuts. And sugar snaps. And cucumbers. And zucchini. I loved how he kept certain things about himself hidden until the right moment. I didn’t see it coming, and it made the story so much more real. His passion for all things farming is so refreshing for a book of this genre, and Alice did a great job with not glossing over it. I loved the little agricultural lessons that I got from this. Trust me, a hot – bearded – green eyed farmer made all the difference.
No spoilers, but read this book people! If you need to get out of a reading slump, this will do the trick. It’s exactly what I needed to read, and I loved every second of this story. I can’t wait to get down and dirty with Oscar the dairy farmer. Highly recommended!
[…] you saw my Top Reads of 2015 post, then you know that Nuts made the list. I absolutely love that book, and I can’t wait to continue the series. […]

Sometimes, the best reviews are those that are more squee-ing than anything else, Lekeisha! And I want to get to know Leo and his zucchinis, too! A sexy, green-eyed man who loves fresh vegetables sounds like one I need to meet.
Great review 🙂

So it IS true – this book is just wonderful and funny and just what everyone needs. Pushing past the suggestive cover which would never have made me guess this had anything to do with agriculture, this actually sounds like an ideal NA read. Funny, with a meaning to it as well and a nice romance. I actually love the sound of it!

I really enjoyed it. It’s really hard for me to love romances like this, but the humor made it easy for me to get swept away.

I LOVED this book. I thought it was hilarious. After her Wallbanger series (which is even funnier and freakin’ AMAZEBALLS) I couldn’t wait for her to start something new. Of course this book had me laughing out loud, at work of all places, with my coworker giving me the stink eye. Oh, if only she knew. Great Review!!!

It is very funny Carole. I laughed and swooned the whole book. I love that the sex wasn’t the focal point of the story, because it’s told not shown. Roxie is LOL funny.
