After lots of pondering, I’ve narrowed it down to 25 books. There were lots of books that I really enjoyed but only 25 made the cut; with 2 of them being 2016 releases.
*All links are to my reviews. Hovering over (or clicking) the covers gives you a little caption of why I chose the book.*
This was really hard because there are at least 15 more that would have made it, but I had to narrow it down. It’s safe to say that sci-fi and fantasy were my favorite genres this year.
I surpassed my Goodreads Challenge: 201|150 (Really 179 because I don’t count novellas and DNF books)
I made Platinum on my Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge: 76
16 novellas, 6 DNF’s, 4 audio books, 175 full novels
My reading and blogging goals for 2016 are to read more of my personal books and less ARCs. I’ve got a few for the first 4 months of the year, and I only plan to request one or two every other month, or if I decide to participate in a blog tour. I have books on my shelves and stacked neatly on the floor that I have been neglecting for years, and I won’t even say how many are on my Kindle. I’m also gonna keep up with posting Monday-Saturday, leaving Sundays free. And I am gonna try to get in more audio books. I have 2 audio cd sets that I need to listen to because they have been sitting on my shelf for over a year, but I will be borrowing a lot from my library. This has been a stressful year for me personally, and I just have to take a step back and take care of ME. It’s just that simple. Unless something comes up, I won’t be taking a break until this time next year. So, here’s to a great 2016!
I love The Martian and Magic Bites! Glad to see them pop up on your list. They’re so much fun. I’m looking forward to reading Six of Crows soon. Just need to finish up the book I’m reading right now.
I also need to read fewer ARCs this year and I really want to re-read a lot! I’m actually just starting the Czar of Love and Techno this week! Great year in books for yoU!!
What a great list and love the variety that you have read…that is super awesome! 🙂 I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. I really enjoyed Magic Bites too. Curran and Kate are so great together, they just fit.
He Will be My Ruin and passenger both sound so good. I read some fo KA Tucker her books this year and am hoping to check out some of her other books this year. I love the cover for Passenger, so pretty! Looking forward to read your review of that one.
I haven’t read any of the books on your list, except for Magic Bites and Throne of Glass, but I didn’t like those as much as you did and even DNF’d Throne of Gladd. Nuts is on my to-read list.
Happy new year and good luck with your goals!
I love seeing these posts this time of year. I have found some great books over the last few days. It looks like you have read some good books in 2015. I have Passenger to read.
The Martian is a crowd favorite. I have seen it on so many end of the year posts. Unfortunately, I am the odd lady out. I just couldn’t get into it.
Happy New Year.
Gorgeous new look here! You’ve done such great things with your blog. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting updates with your posts so I made sure I am an email follower 🙂
I love your reads for this year– science fiction and fantasy has always been my go to. I also loved The Rose Society (and Incarnate is a long time fave), and cannot wait for the sequel! I think I was really burnt out– as you know, I’ve been off the blogosphere for a while, until recently, and have finally gone back to reading for pleasure, and it’s so nice! I’m reading the 5th Wave, finally, which I’m not that into yet, but we’ll see. I’ll give it some more time (the movie preview before Star Wars got me interested in actually cracking it open since like you, I have about 100 books just waiting to be read on my bookshelf).
I know you have been focusing on your career in medicine, so I am happy that you are doing what you love. I took my nephew to see TFA on Christmas Eve and he went bananas. I loved it as well.
It is tough narrowing it down. You read some really good ones. I hope to read Everything Everything and Throne of Glass in 2016. I like your goals for the new year.
LOVED LOVED LOVED The Law of Moses and Song of David. Really great reads! I also really liked Nuts. I can’t wait to check out Six of Crows and Made You Up. I really liked Red Queen. Can’t wait for the sequel. Great list!
Woohoo for Martian and Dreamer’s Pool, those are two of my favorite books ever! And the more I see Passenger around, the more I want to read it! I can’t wait to see your review for the blog tour!
You really read a lot of books this year! Some really great ones and I have only read a handful of the ones that made your list. I agree completely with you regarding ARCs. I am going to try to limit how many I request next year so that I can maybe get to a few of the books that I have actually bought. I am sorry that this has been a stressful year for you but just keep taking care of you and hopefully everything will fall into place.
I seriously love your 2015 lists! I have many of these on my TBR list, including Passenger, The Rose Society, and Throne of Glass. I haven’t read Eric Jerome Dickey in such a long time…is he still good? I enjoyed End of Days, but sadly I didn’t love it.
EJD is still good, if not better. He tends to err on the erotic side a little. Not so much S&M but hard sex. Still he keeps it real and does his thing on politics and pop culture.
Everything Everything, Six of Crows and End of Days are some of my favorite books this year too. 🙂 I really enjoyed Red Queen too, but I’ve lost interested in the sequel for some reason.
Passenger was a DNF for me. 😦 I was so sad because I was really looking forward to it. Oh well, I guess not every book can be for me. I am very excited about reading He Will Be My Ruin. And I NEED to get to Made You Up next year!
I like the redesign here and the new banner! Also, how come the only one on this list that I have also read is Made You Up? There are an awful lot of books on this list thata re on my TBR and hopefully I can get to them in 2016. But it seems like you read a lot of epic books and I can’t wait to see what you get up to for the next year. Hopefully you can take care of yourself, be happy and have a bit less stress going on :3 And congrats on reaching all your goals!
[…] you saw my Top Reads of 2015 post, then you know that Nuts made the list. I absolutely love that book, and I can’t […]

Passenger is very well written and I can tell Bracken researched the hell out of the historical aspects.
