Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha’s family to keep the area safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and—oh, yeah—not lose her heart to the wrong guy or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, he’s coming for her and her sisters.

Review

I’ve been reading a lot of UF and PNR lately, so this came as no surprise that I would enjoy it. While I’m not entirely in love with this first book, I’m going to push ahead with the next book to see if I can be wowed. Sealed With A Curse is a good start to another series, filled with beings with paranormal and supernatural qualities.

Meet the Wird sisters….

Okay, so their descriptions don’t match these chicks, but I can’t help but think of Taran with the bat across her shoulders. That girl’s got no shame. She’s loud and foul and doesn’t give a rats butt who hears her. Of course, that would be Celia with the flame. She’s the in control one, and the mama bear. These sisters are tight. I love their closeness, which is what I look for when there are sisters thrown in the mix. While I like all 4 girls enough, Celia is the main focus of this story. Trying not to stand out in a such a powerful world of all things paranormal, is hard to achieve. Especially, when the antagonist notices you. I like how the author set up this plot, and I can’t wait to see how complex it gets as the books go on.

In every PNR or UF series, there’s always a hot Alpha of some pack running around. And of course, that pack is at war with their sworn enemies – vampires. I so did not need a new book boyfriend, but Aric slipped his hotness right on in. Misha – the hot vampire – isn’t bad to swoon over either. And this is where I felt the story going in another direction.

Celia and Aric were insta-lusting the moment they met. I’m all for some romance for Celia, but it happened too fast, with little in between. Part of that is because Celia is a little self conscious when it comes to why she’s single. I do not like heroines who think they’re ugly, when the author clearly describes their beauty. I’ve never understood why an author would give the reader this “perfect” visual of the heroine, only to have the heroine go on about how she doesn’t think she’s pretty enough. I absolutely hate it. I hate the comparisons to other girls, and the cliche’ “get your paws off my man” attitude. That was a little annoying, but I’m hoping that all of these characters grow more with each book. Otherwise, I don’t think I can go on.

I love the action, which sped up the pace. Not a bad start to a series, so I definitely recommend this one. If you love your paranormal romance, you may want to give this series (or at least this book) a shot.
