Stacking The Shelves #74

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, that spotlights the books we are adding to our shelves each week; whether they be virtual or physical.

Library / Blog Tours

I’ve already read Anna and the Swallow Man last weekend, and it was a good read. I’m hoping Truthwitch is good, but I’m hesitant because of the mixed reviews. I didn’t have to buy it, so I pressed that borrow button when I saw it available.

Review Request / Purchased

Just to let you know how bad my mind is; I went on Amazon to purchase the first book in the Mercy Thompson series, turns out I already have it! When I saw that little memo at the top of the page, I was like huh?. I purchased it back in 2014, but I swear that I don’t remember. I turned on my Kindle, searched, and there it was. I decided to go ahead and get book two, in case I have the urge to read it after I finish the first one. I need help you guys.

Thank you to Carole for Friction,  Jennifer for Bitter Bite, and Tamara for 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl. I was happy and sad to see Lady Midnight in my box. Happy because I’ve been waiting for this series to kick off, sad because Amazon haven’t sent my other books. Ever since I got off Prime, they take their time when delivering. That still won’t make me subscribe again, just for rush jobs on book deliveries. Too much money when I don’t even shop like I used to with them. I’m thinking of only buying Kindle books from them from now on, and get my physical books elsewhere.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I was invited to a bridal shower that is today. My boyfriend has had my invitation in his truck for weeks, and forgot to give it to me. I’ll just have to gift the bride another time, because there’s a dress code for the shower and I have no time to shop for something to wear. I hope she doesn’t get upset that I’m not coming, but she should blame her brother for his absentmindedness. What books did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. I’m kind of jealous of you Lekeisha, because you’re about to have your first experience with Mercy Thompson 🙂 I hope you’ll love her as much as I do.
Your other books look great, too, and if you knew how many times amazon has told me ‘you already purchased this book’, you’d be laughing out loud.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

  2. Truthwitch is something I have been wanting to read despite the mixed reviews. I also really want to read Lady Midnight but I can’t get it even though it’s my favourite author because of my ban… oh well. Enjoy it on my behalf! I love Book Depository for my paperback books. Oh, and it’s a shame about the bridal shower 😦

  4. I do that all the time! Thank goodness Amazon tells us when we already purchased a book. Ah, gotta love brothers. Hopefully she gives him an ear full.

  5. Happy to see your library got Truthwitch. I was one of those reviewers who had mixed feelings about it, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it! I’m also so happy to see Mercy Thompson on this list! Haha, how funny that you already had the first book but forgot…that happens to me all the time too 🙂

  7. I bought Truthwitch when it first came out and still haven’t read it. I just went and added Dangerous Kisses to my wishlist – and the TBR grows. I live Mercy Thompson and hope you do too although the new one just came out and now I’m two behind. I only keep my prime right now because my husband is taking on-line classes so we get a 50% discount. Even with that they have been getting slower and slower.

  8. I personally don’t shop online. I find it kind of scary having to give my credit card details out (yeah, I’m a little paranoid) but mainly I just like supporting local bookshops. Maybe try that instead of online shopping if Amazon isn’t working for you? And I’ve been hearing so many things about the Mercy Thompson series this week. I’ll have to check it out to see what all the fuss is about.

  9. What an odd phrase taken out of context “a dress code for a shower” 😉
I really have to try out Mercy Thompson once I’ve finished up at least one of my current books. I really love the Jane Yellowrock series but, I’m all caught up on that one.

    Happy Reading!!

  10. Oh no! That sucks that he forgot to give you the invitation! But I’m sure she’ll understand. 🙂
I don’t know about Truthwitch yet. It sounds like something I would like but I was burned out by the author’s previous series and also the series is so long! I liked the first 2 books in the Jennifer Estep series so I’m looking forward to that last book.
Happy reading and have a lovely weekend!

  11. If you only knew how many times I have went to amazon to buy a book and found out that I already had it. Seriously, I do it all the time. I was able to get Bright Blaze of Magic this week as well and am looking forward to it. Sorry that your boyfriend forgot to give you the invitation. It is so frustrating!

  12. I saw that Jennifer Estep one and it looked good, but I haven’t read the earlier ones. Yay for Mercy Thompson. Pfft, I’ve made that mistake at least a half dozen times thinking I didn’t have a book and already did. Obviously, I need help, too.

Oops, well, I guess she probably knows her brother and will believe it about the invite. My husbands family knows he’s awful with details and things they hand him so they don’t give him that stuff. Hopefully she mails the wedding invitation. LOL!

I love comments, and try to reply as often as I can. Know that I read each and every one.
