I want all of these to be five star reads for me, but Charley makes it very hard. She’s freaking reckless sometimes! I told myself that I’d just go with the flow because she has a problem sitting still and paying attention. She also has the job of grim reaper, so she takes her duties seriously. Still, she should know better. All that ripping and running, chasing bad guys, and overall strenuous activity is not good for pregnancy. Especially the first trimester, which is fragile. Add the Twelve hellhounds that are after her, and it’s a whole other level. I wouldn’t even let her leave the house if I were Reyes. She’s carrying precious cargo after all. She better be glad that I love her, or I’d have stopped reading. Okay, that’s a lie. I’d keep going for Reyes, Cookie, and the gang. The supporting characters here are all so great. They bring a lot of things to the table, and the way that they all love Charley is awesome.

Jessica’s ghost is back to get on Charley’s nerves. Reyes has an admirer who is a little crazy, to be honest. Uncle Bob gets caught in something serious, and Charley is helping to investigate it all. Her father is MIA, but I can’t get over how this one ends. Or the next one, and the next. Charley saves a life, but it may have consequences later. I am happy about part of the ending, so there’s that. It’s hard to gush about this series when you’re trying not to spoil. Just read these books. I promise that you will love them. I love Charley, but sometimes I can’t overlook her impulsive behavior. This series has an awesome setting, amazing supporting characters (even the dead ones), and lots of humor and mystery. Highly recommend!

Being stuck at the convent doesn’t seem so bad. Uncle Bob and Cookie are about to tie the knot, and Charley is about to pop. Guess what? Charley can’t even stop for a moment. She wanders around outside, following a dead nun into the woods, all the while knowing that the Twelve are right there. This one was so tricky. There were twists that I didn’t see coming. I mean, the moment we’ve been waiting for since book one has arrived. However, one twist wasn’t so surprising. If you’ve read this one, then you know what I’m talking about. I’ve been voicing my hatred for that person all along, so I knew something was up.

Big things happen in this installment. Mainly to do with Charley and Reyes. I mean, this wouldn’t be Charley if she didn’t at least try to solve a crime. But everything changes and a character that has been here since the beginning plays a big role. I won’t lie, I always suspected that character was bad, but I was so so wrong. We finally meet the man himself, and it’s like everything falls into place. I actually teared up at the end, because I wasn’t expecting that to happen. Man, that had to be the hardest thing for Charley and Reyes.

I was worried about Charley this whole book. Then, Reyes and Angel were acting all secretive. Reyes isn’t sleeping, and he’s hotter than he normally is. Temperature wise!! So that especially had me concerned. Osh and Garrett are around, and they are determined to keep Charley safe. Cookie is apprehensive about her honeymoon. We find out a little about her past, and I couldn’t help but laugh because she thinks she’s cursed or something. Agent Carson and her partner come to Charlie for help on a case. Charlie goes above and beyond, or shall I say below and beyond, to find a missing girl before it’s too late. Again, Charley does things without thinking that have dire consequences. However, Reyes makes mistakes too, so I can be mad with him as well.

I can’t explain how addicting this series is. There is always something going on that will have you on the edge of your seat. Reyes is hot, Osh is hot, Garrett is hot – do you need anymore incentive to read this series? There are ghosts, missing people, killers, demons, and stalkers everywhere. Sometimes not all is at it seems; which is why I like this series.

  1. Haha – I was so worried about Charley in the 8th book too. I get a kick out of her antics, but I was so nervous about something happening to beep. Glad you’re addicted to the series!

  2. I started with book eight unintentionally but I thought it was pretty good. I didn’t get caught up in the story but I definitely want to give the series a try from the beginning.

  3. I’m so glad you’re enjoying this series! I think I stopped at the eighth book while waiting for it to come out a couple years back. (Or was it last year? It’s been too long, haha.) Charley was always so reckless! I was always mentally chastising her with how impetuous she acted, and without thinking of the consequences of her actions.

    • I think the other characters keep most readers going, because Charley is too impulsive a character to rely on. I mean, it always turns out right, but I’d like nothing more than for her to not be so reckless.

  4. I think at a certain point in a series it is almost impossible to write an in depth review without having some spoilers in there! So I definitely understand although it did mean that I only just skimmed the review because I fully intend to read the series. Seems like there are some reckless characters that are holding back from making this book perfect, but that the mystery and paranormal element remain epic all the way through 🙂

  5. I haven’t read past a couple of books in this series, but I REALLY want to, so I’m not reading your review until I get to the books myself, but I read the last paragraphs.
I love that everyone is hot! Haha! That’s definitely a sure way to get me to read the book! 🙂
I’m happy this series is still going so strong for you! 🙂

  7. I agree. Charlie is annoying, but I couldn’t stop if I wanted to. And yeah, things really get real for these last few books. I gasps and stared in shock a few times. Blink. Nope, the words still read the same. Just wow, right?
