The dating gods must be crazy.

I’d thought my five-year anniversary would include a fancy dinner, some great sex, and maybe fending off a marriage proposal. Instead, it was the worst sex ever, and at the restaurant, my boyfriend broke up with me.

It’s like I’ve been cursed with Bad Ex Karma. Whenever I try to date a new guy, he ends up with a concussion or a trip to the ER.

My internal “disaster consultants”, the What Ifs, completely missed the clues leading to the breakup, so now they’re working overtime to protect me from another potential heartbreak. My two best friends set me up on dates while assuring me it won’t put men on the endangered species list.

There’s one man who seems completely immune to the curse: a sexy chef named Jonathan. He keeps popping up in my life, and he stirs up the most delicious feelings. Maybe Bad Ex Karma isn’t such a bad thing after all. . .

 

My Thoughts

Bad Ex Karma was a treat to read. I love the friendship, humor, and romance that was so well laid out. This is my first book by this author, but I’m positive that it won’t be the last. Coming in at 159 pages, this little gem kept me reading until the last page, nonstop. 

Delia has just been dumped by her boyfriend of 5 years, and the bad sex that started her day has only made things much worse. There’s heartache, but she has her two best girlfriends to help her get through this ordeal. And so the weeks following the breakup are hard, but she manages to continue on with her life. She has a job that she loves; and how can she not, when there’s great wine involved? Being a winery tasting room manager has it’s perks, alright. But, Delia’s friends think it’s time for her to get out and date again. They set her up on blind dates that start out all bad. Not only does she she her ex with his new fiance’, but another date ends with a concussion, and she’s sure it has to do with her. Her theory of her “bad sex karma” is making her a little paranoid. It doesn’t help that she has Worry, Fear, and Dread in her head every moment making her doubt everything in her life. She meets Jonathon at the Farmer’s Market, not knowing that he’s a chef at the restaurant she sees her ex at, and she’s outside in the parking lot venting when he sees her. And again at her job. Coincidence? I think not. Next thing she knows, she’s on a couples dinner date, and it goes from there.

Delia was hilarious to me on those blind dates. I love how she did at least try to go out and get back what she once had; confidence. Lots of mishaps happening, and her girls were just egging her on. I love that they were there for her when she needed them. I think the friendship here is what really makes this one special. And, of course, we can’t forget Jonathon. He’s a hottie and a chef, what else is there to say? I think they found each other at the right time in there lives. I would have loved it to be a little longer, in terms of where their lives headed, but it was so sweet and romantic, that it turns out to be enough. If you want some humorously-ever-after romance, this is the perfect read to grab. Definitely recommend!
