ADD TO GOODREADS

On the corner of American Street and Joy Road, Fabiola Toussaint thought she would finally find une belle vie—the good life. But after leaving Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Fabiola’s mother is detained by U.S. immigration, leaving Fabiola to navigate her loud, American cousins—Chantal, Donna and Princess—the grittiness of Detroit’s west side, a new school, and a surprising romance, all on her own. Just as she finds her footing in this strange new world, a dangerous proposition presents itself, and Fabiola must learn that freedom comes at a cost. Trapped at the crossroads of an impossible choice, will she pay the price for the American dream?

Why Am I Waiting?

It’s YA, Contemporary, and diverse; all things that I love to read! I think that the protagonist being Haitian is something that needs to be read. I’m always excited to read books that POC, so this was a must when I saw it. I just love that cover! What book are you waiting on this week?

  1. I’d spotted that gorgeous cover on another blog but hadn’t yet read what it was about. Sounds fantastic though, thanks for sharing!

  2. I dread your WoW. You always introduce a new novel to me that I have never heard of but sounds so wonderfully divine that I just have add it to my TBR. So basically, it’s always growing and now I just get to blame you ❤ This book sounds epic!

I love comments, and try to reply as often as I can. Know that I read each and every one.
