New Release: Orenda by Ruth Silver + Giveaway

ORENDA by Ruth Silver

a Young Adult Fantasy Adventure series

published by Patchwork Press

Orenda Join forces with a parallel universe.

Dark forces, magical creatures, and the world Lil thought she knew collide when a dream transports her to the strange world of Orenda. Stunned and terrified, Lil comes face to face with her doppelganger, Willow, who possesses the ability to travel between the two worlds. Everything Lil knows logically says that Orenda can’t exist, but a small clue may be proof that it was more than an ordinary dream. With the threat of her younger sister in danger, Lil crosses dimensions but it may cost her even more than she bargained for.

A sword wielding girl, the eternal suit, and a parallel universe come together in this action-packed Young Adult fantasy adventure that will keep readers of all ages turning the pages. Orenda is the first novel in the Orenda series.

Lil stood firm, sword-in-hand, staring at the beast as it flew directly at her. “How do I kill it?” She raised the sword above her head with two hands.

Hudson glanced at her. “With what we taught you. The dragon is no different than a man.”

“It has wings and is flying at me. I’d say it’s different!”

Waiting On Wednesday #3: In a Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis

Title: In a Handful of Dust (Not a Drop To Drink #2)

Author: Mindy McGinnis

Release Date: September 23, 2014

Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

Genre: YA/Dystopia

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It is a way for bloggers and readers to share which books they are eagerly waiting to be released. My book this week is In a Handful of Dust (Not a Drop To Drink #2) by Mindy McGinnis

Lucy’s life by the pond has been full. She has water and friends, laughter and the love of her adoptive mother, Lynn, who has made sure that Lucy’s childhood  was very different from her own. Yet, it seems Lucy’s future is settled already- a house, man, children and a water source- and anything beyond their life by the pond is beyond reach.

First off, When I read Not a Drop To Drink last year, I was sure that it was a stand-alone. So when I learned months ago through Epic Reads, that there was to be a “companion” novel to Not a Drop To Drink, I was shocked. Nowhere, at the end of that novel, did I get the sense that there would/could be another book. Reading it 13112869 was not the highlight of my reading schedule. I was wondering what all the hype was about, so me pushing the book up on my TBR schedule was just a bad move on my part. I rated the book 3 STARS. You can read my review HERE on Goodreads. It was an okay read for me, not a book that I could pick up and read over and over. It didn’t quite feel like a Dystopian book, more like a guide for how to survive without running water.

So why am I ready to read the next book you ask? Because, me being the masochist that I am, just has to know what the heck is Mindy gonna write about in that book!!!!  I just have to know! I thought for sure that there would only be the one, but noooooo. They had to slam In a Handful of Dust in my face. HARD! So, I must say, i’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes. What books are you waiting on this week?

Add, In a Handful of Dust to your GOODREADS shelf.

My book this week is Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong.

Title: Sea of Shadows

Author: Kelley Armstrong

Release Date: April 8, 2014

Publisher: Harper Collins (Harper Teen)

I’m excited for this because I’ve read a lot of her adult books, and it’d be nice to see how she pulls off this new YA trilogy.

In the Forest of the Dead, where the empire’s worst criminals are exiled, two sisters Moria and Ashyn are charged with a dangerous task. For they are the Keeper and the Seeker, and each year they must quiet the enraged souls of the damned.

Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.

Ambushed and separated by an ancient evil, the sisters’ journey to find each other sends them far from the only home they’ve ever known. Accompanied by a stubborn imperial guard and a dashing condemned thief, the girls cross a once-empty wasteland, now filled with reawakened monsters of legend, as they travel to warn the emperor. But a terrible secret awaits them at court- one that will alter the balance of their world forever.

I’ve read some mixed ARC reviews already for this book, but for the most part, the positive outweigh the negative. Check it out on GOODREADS and see if it peaks your interest. I’m always excited to read new books and I’ve already pre-ordered my copy. What books are you most excited to read?
