Kindle Kandy #2

Kindle Kandy Plain

Kindle Kandy is a Friday weekly meme, hosted by The Book Dame, that spotlights books that we own but have yet to read.

Random books from my ereader this week that I haven’t read yet are…………..

12578077Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

21936988I am the perfect weapon.
I kill with a single touch.

Twylla is blessed. The Gods have chosen her to marry a prince, and rule the kingdom. But the favour of the Gods has it’s price. A deadly poison infuses her skin. Those who anger the queen must die under Twylla’s fatal touch.

Only Lief, an outspoken new guard, can see past Twylla’s chilling role to the girls she truly is.

Yet in a court as dangerous and the queen’s, some truths should not be told…

10194157Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Shadow and Bone is the first installment in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy.

These 3 are coming up on my list to read, so if nothing distracts me, I’ll be getting to these soon. What books do you own that you haven’t read yet?

Stacking The Shelves #51 The Song of David

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, that spotlights the books we are adding to our shelves; whether they are virtual or physical.

I’m still in shock from the season finale of Game of Thrones! That just started my whole week off wrong. I’ve felt so off kilter this week and I can’t figure out why. I took some me time and went to the movies, and Chris Pratt made me somewhat better with his humor in Jurrasic World. It wasn’t the best, but I did leave the theater smiling. So…. rough week and I’m hoping that I can shake this feeling entirely. I’ve been reading like crazy but I’m finding myself putting the books down more and more. Not much happening here, so I hope you guys are enjoying your weekend. I have to work – blahhhh!

*Squeals* I’m battling 5 books at the moment, 3 of which I haven’t touched in days. As soon as I’m done with those, I’m soooo all over this book!! It demands my undivided attention and I will give it. The reviews are pouring in and I want to see if it’s all that I think it will be.

11408650The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Started this yesterday and I’m only as far as chapter 3, but it is creeping me out. Seriously, I’m almost afraid to find out what happened!

What books did you add to your shelves this week? Have you read any of these?

Kindle Kandy #1

Kindle Kandy Plain

Kindle Kandy is a Friday weekly meme, hosted by The Book Dame, that spotlights books on our ereaders that we have had for a while, but have yet to read.

This is my first KK, and I have waaaay too many books that I have not read on my Kindle. To pick one is impossible, so I’ll just start off with 2 for now. These 2 have been waiting to be read for years now, and I’m sort of ashamed to have not given them my attention. *Covers link to Goodreads*

9219239College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That’s when her mom started acting weird, refusing to go outside during the day and insisting the sunlight hurt her skin because she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire…

But fascinated doesn’t mean Leesa believes—any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. When her beloved older brother suddenly disappears, she is forced to confront all these and more.

17410908Jade loves her new apartment-until a ghost joins her in the shower.

When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn’t count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and developing feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord.

Being an empath has never been easy on Jade’s relationships. It’s no wonder she keeps her gift a secret. But when the ghost moves from spooking Jade to terrorizing Pyper, the dancer, it’s up to Jade to use her unique ability to save her. Except she’ll need Kane’s help and he’s betrayed her with a secret of his own to do it. Can she find a way to trust him and herself before Pyper is lost?

There are maybe a thousand more distributed between my 3 ereaders and computer. I’m trying to do better! I was thinking doing a spreadsheet to organize them all and start with the oldest to newest. Hopefully, these 2 aren’t that far down on the list because I really want to get to them soon. What Kindle Kandy have you got to share? Come on people, don’t be selfish!

Stacking The Shelves #49

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, that spotlights the books we are adding to our shelves; whether they be virtual or physical.

I’m back from being absent last week. It’s been crazy around here trying to get my schedule to even out. I don’t have kids, so you can imagine how I’m dealing with the addition of my niece and nephew being with me everyday of the week. Great news! My sister is doing really well and she even has some of her mobility back. She gets discharged next week (if all goes well), and has to do some intense occupational and physical therapy. She even managed to walk about 20 steps unassisted the other day. So, I’m just glad to have her coming back to us. Not many books this week, but I’m sure that’ll change within the next few weeks because my Amazon cart is filled to capacity, just waiting for me to hit that order button. I hope you guys are having a great weekend!

To those who celebrate, have a great Memorial Day weekend! I’m working this weekend to make up for some of the hours I’ve missed this week. I managed to get to the library, but left my list at home of the books that I want to read. Still, I managed to get 2 that have been on my TBR forever.

My plans to make it to the library this week were thwarted. My sister is back in the hospital and I’ve been busy driving back and forth up to visit her, plus work and taking care of her little ones while her husband works at night. It’s been stressful and I’m afraid it’ll always be like this. She has Transverse Myelitis, a rare inflammatory disease that causes injury to the spinal cord. They found more lesions and therefore she’s in a state of paralysis at the moment. So, I’m just gonna continue my prayers for her to recover and be as functional as she possibly can. Not many books this week and I think that I’m gonna cut back on my requests for the next few months; until I can get the ones I have read since I don’t have the time.

Crimson Footprints by Shewanda Pugh I love her writing style, even though I wasn’t too fond of one of her books. The writing was flawless but the story as a whole wasn’t my cup of tea. Maybe this one will be different.

Sugar Kisses by Addison Moore I have all of her books on my Kindle, but have only read a handful. Those that I’ve read are great and I just had to grab this one since it was free.

Waiting On Wednesday #9: Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee

new-wow

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights books we are eagerly anticipating.

The last WOW that I did was back in June 2014. I was working 14-16 hour days back then, so I just got back into doing this weekly meme. Plus, I had just started blogging and had to learn how to manage my time- that now included this. This week I’m waiting on Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. If you don’t know, this is a companion novel to my favorite book of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird. God, I remember reading my aunt’s copy when I was only 13 years old. I have 3 copies on my shelf. 2 are dogeared and creased beyond repair, but my hardcover that I purchased about 5 years ago is in perfect condition. Every person on the planet should read To Kill a Mockingbird. Reading that book did something to me inside, and I’ve been trying to find another one that I will love just as much. I can’t count how many times that I’ve read it.

I’m having one of those weeks where I wish that I could just fade into the background. I’ve been snapping on any and everyone, everyday, and I wish that I could take it back but I can’t. I’m just so sick of the madness around here. I didn’t link up to Goodreads with these because I’m in a hurry. Hope you all are having a better weekend than I am!
