Waiting On Wednesday #7: Reborn by C.C. Hunter

Hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine

This week I’m waiting on Reborn by C.C. Hunter.

Title: Reborn (Shadow Falls: After Dark #1)

Author: C.C. Hunter

Release Date: May 20, 2014

Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin

Genre: YA/Paranormal Romance

From Goodreads: For Della Tsang, Shadow Falls isn’t just a camp: it’s home. As a vampire who’s never fit in with her human family, it’s the one place she can truly be herself. But when a mysterious new guy arrives at camp, Della’s whole world is thrown into turmoil. Chase is a vampire with secrets, who knows more than he’s telling. But the more time she spends with him, the more she begins to trust this attractive stranger—and feel drawn to him. But romance is the last thing she wants—as she keeps telling Steve, the hunky shapeshifter who won’t stop trying to win her heart. And if Della isn’t careful, he just might succeed. When a new case puts everyone she cares about in danger, Della’s determined to do everything she can to save them . . . even if it means teaming up with Steve and Chase, who leave her more confused than ever. With their lives on the line, will Della and her friends survive—with their hearts intact?

I love vampires and shifters, so this looks like it will be worth reading. Although, I am NOT looking forward to the love triangle. Hopefully, the action will override it. What are you waiting on this week?

Waiting On Wednesday #6: Curses and Smoke (A Novel of Pompeii)

new-wow Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking The Spine, that highlights the books  that we're eagerly anticipating to be released. I'm waiting for quite a few, but this week i'll have to go with 18692432

Curses And Smoke: A Novel of Pompeii

Author: Vicky Alvear Shecter

Release Date: May 27, 2014

Genre: YA/Historical/Romance

When your world blows apart, what will you hold onto?

TAG is a medical slave, doomed to spend his life healing his master’s injured gladiators. But his warrior’s heart yearns to fight in the gladiator ring himself and earn enough money to win his freedom.

LUCIA is the daughter of Tag’s owner, doomed by her father’s greed to marry a much older Roman man. But she loves studying the natural world around her home in Pompeii, and lately she’s been noticing some odd occurrences in the landscape: small lakes disappearing; a sulfurous smell in the air…

When the two childhood friends reconnect, each with their own longings, they fall passionately in love. But as they plot their escape from the city, a patrician fighter reveals his own plans for them– to Lucia’s father, who imprisons Tag as punishment. Then an earthquake shakes Pompeii, in the first sign of chaos to come. Will they be able to find each other again before the volcano destroys their whole world?

I’m excited about this, simply because I’ve become obsessed with Historical Fiction, and I love stories of Pompeii. I can’t wait to see how the author makes her story come to life. I can’t help but picture Kit_Harington_BAFTA_2012 Kit Harington now, every time I think about anything regarding Pompeii. He was absolutely perfect in the most recent adaptation of Pompeii the movie. I swooned so much throughout the whole movie, that my fiance’ got mad. Anyways, I can’t wait to read this book!! What book are you waiting on this week?

Waiting On Wednesday #3: In a Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis

Title: In a Handful of Dust (Not a Drop To Drink #2)

Author: Mindy McGinnis

Release Date: September 23, 2014

Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

Genre: YA/Dystopia

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It is a way for bloggers and readers to share which books they are eagerly waiting to be released. My book this week is In a Handful of Dust (Not a Drop To Drink #2) by Mindy McGinnis

Lucy’s life by the pond has been full. She has water and friends, laughter and the love of her adoptive mother, Lynn, who has made sure that Lucy’s childhood  was very different from her own. Yet, it seems Lucy’s future is settled already- a house, man, children and a water source- and anything beyond their life by the pond is beyond reach.

First off, When I read Not a Drop To Drink last year, I was sure that it was a stand-alone. So when I learned months ago through Epic Reads, that there was to be a “companion” novel to Not a Drop To Drink, I was shocked. Nowhere, at the end of that novel, did I get the sense that there would/could be another book. Reading it 13112869 was not the highlight of my reading schedule. I was wondering what all the hype was about, so me pushing the book up on my TBR schedule was just a bad move on my part. I rated the book 3 STARS. You can read my review HERE on Goodreads. It was an okay read for me, not a book that I could pick up and read over and over. It didn’t quite feel like a Dystopian book, more like a guide for how to survive without running water.

So why am I ready to read the next book you ask? Because, me being the masochist that I am, just has to know what the heck is Mindy gonna write about in that book!!!!  I just have to know! I thought for sure that there would only be the one, but noooooo. They had to slam In a Handful of Dust in my face. HARD! So, I must say, i’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes. What books are you waiting on this week?

Add, In a Handful of Dust to your GOODREADS shelf.

My book this week is Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong.

Title: Sea of Shadows

Author: Kelley Armstrong

Release Date: April 8, 2014

Publisher: Harper Collins (Harper Teen)

I’m excited for this because I’ve read a lot of her adult books, and it’d be nice to see how she pulls off this new YA trilogy.

In the Forest of the Dead, where the empire’s worst criminals are exiled, two sisters Moria and Ashyn are charged with a dangerous task. For they are the Keeper and the Seeker, and each year they must quiet the enraged souls of the damned.

Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.

Ambushed and separated by an ancient evil, the sisters’ journey to find each other sends them far from the only home they’ve ever known. Accompanied by a stubborn imperial guard and a dashing condemned thief, the girls cross a once-empty wasteland, now filled with reawakened monsters of legend, as they travel to warn the emperor. But a terrible secret awaits them at court- one that will alter the balance of their world forever.

I’ve read some mixed ARC reviews already for this book, but for the most part, the positive outweigh the negative. Check it out on GOODREADS and see if it peaks your interest. I’m always excited to read new books and I’ve already pre-ordered my copy. What books are you most excited to read?

I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. In the long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary’s own brother.

Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move………….

I know that i’m not the only Shadowhunter waiting on the last installment to Cassandra Clare’s epic The Mortal Instruments Series. I can’t sit still! Every time it crosses my mind, I get all bouncy. *I’M CURRENTLY BOUNCING AS I TYPE THIS POST* I get the feeling that i’ll be crying throughout the book, not because it’s the end, but because there will be character death. This is no SPOILER, it’s already been stated by the author herself. I just pray that it’s not one of my favorites!!!!!
